No identity data

We gather no name, address, email, phone number or date of birth. There is no account to create, so nothing to fill in.

The app contains no analytics tool, no advertising tracker and no statistics library. Nothing is sent to a social network or an ad network. The only third-party service it uses is the one that delivers notifications (Apple on iPhone and iPad, Google Firebase on Android), and only if you turn announcements on.

What stays on the device

So that children find their place and their stories again, the app stores locally, in its own private storage:

• the chosen language and theme, and continuous playback;
• the last scene read in each tale;
• tales marked as favourites;
• the lanterns earned;
• tales downloaded for offline reading;
• the time of the bedtime reminder, if it is on.

The bedtime reminder is scheduled on the device itself: it goes through no server.

This information never leaves the device. It is not sent to us and we have no way of accessing it. Deleting the app erases it for good.

Requests to our servers

To display and play the tales, the app downloads their text, illustrations and audio from lampionstories.com. These requests carry no personal identifier.

Like any web server, ours keeps technical logs — IP address, date, file requested — needed to operate and secure it. They are not used for profiling, not cross-referenced with anything, not shared with third parties, and are deleted automatically.

New tale announcements (optional)

They are off by default. They are only turned on if you ask, in the app settings, and after the system grants permission.

Once on, the app sends our server three pieces of information, and nothing else:

• a notification token: a technical identifier assigned to this installation by Apple or Google, which reveals neither the name, nor the number, nor the account of the user;
• the system (iOS or Android), to know which service delivers the announcement;
• the chosen language, to announce the tale in that language.

No reading, favourite or progress is linked to this token. It is used only to send the announcement of a new tale, to all subscribers of a language at the same time.

To deliver the announcement, the token is passed to the Apple or Google notification service. On Android, Firebase is used without Google Analytics.

Turning announcements off in the settings erases the token from our servers, immediately. Uninstalling the app makes it unusable, and it is erased at the next announcement.

Children

Lampion is made for children: no account, no advertising, no in-app purchase, no outbound links, no messaging, no content added by other users.

Sharing a tale uses the system share sheet. The operating system displays the list of possible recipients, and we know neither the recipient nor whether anything was sent.

Your rights and deleting your data

We hold no record about you. If you turned Lampion announcements on, we only keep the token described above, with its language and system. It is the only data we have to delete.

To delete it: open Lampion, go to Settings and turn off "New stories". The token is erased from our servers immediately and permanently; we keep no copy. If you have uninstalled Lampion, it is erased automatically at the next announcement.

The information stored on the device (settings, progress, favourites, downloaded tales) is never sent to us. Uninstalling the app removes it entirely.
